A bottle on the table, a few glasses shared with friends and a good meal: red wine is deeply intertwined with the French art of living and gastronomy.

Yet its story began long before France itself. Grapevines have been cultivated since Antiquity, with the Greeks and later the Romans playing an important role in developing viticulture across the land that would eventually become France. Over the centuries, vineyards spread and each region developed its own grape varieties, methods and traditions.

From Burgundy to Bordeaux, from the Rhône Valley to the Loire, this diversity has given rise to an incredible variety of red wines. Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah or Grenache: each grape variety tells the story of a particular climate, soil and savoir-faire — something the French like to sum up in one word: terroir.

Over time, wine became much more than just a drink: it established itself at the heart of French culture, accompanying meals, celebrations and special occasions, while helping French gastronomy earn its worldwide reputation.

Even today, opening a bottle means carrying on centuries of winemaking tradition, but above all, celebrating what wine represents best: the pleasure of sharing a moment around the table.
